Eweleaze lies in a sheltered spot between Tamarisk Farm gardens, a small wooded area with stream and open fields to the sea. There are views to the sea and across Lyme Bay. You will see Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of England and the Jurassic Coast of West Dorset and Devon. On a clear day you may see Start Point near Salcombe, around fifty miles across the bay. The main living space is full of windows, so is light and allows full access to the views. West Bexington beach (the famous Chesil Beach) is a short walk across the fields.
Eweleaze was built of local stone about fifty years ago. It has its own lawn and outside space suitable for dining and relaxing. The garden has Bramley apple trees as well as other shrubs and herbs. Inside the main room is a south-facing kitchen/ sitting/ dining area; one bedroom has a double bed (sea views from the bed), and the other can sleep three, with bunk beds and a single ‘chair-bed’. The back door opens into a spacious garage, also containing a table-tennis table. Eweleaze was tastefully re-furbished in 2012; and the response from new and returning guests has been excellent. On the practical side we supply bed linen, towels and tea towels. Heating is provided by a wood stove and storage heaters. We pay for the storage heaters, but you will need to give the electric meter a few pound coins for lighting, cooking, and hot water and so on.
Eweleaze is architecturally modest, but what it lacks in history and quaintness it makes up for in simple tastefulness, practicality and from its outstanding location.
With the sea so close, the interest of the farm and so much outside space to explore, Eweleaze is ideal for families, walkers and nature lovers. Many guests have returned year after year, and some have been visiting for decades.
